OPERATIONS & BOOKINGS
Clotilde is clearly keen on islands; her favourite holiday destinations so far have been São Miguel in the Azores and Malta. Like other team members, she loves experiencing different cultures and places. Before joining PGW in 2016, she worked on important rural tourism development projects such as the Portuguese Villages of Tradition, putting her MBA in Business Management and her earlier Marketing training to good use. Hailing from Porto, she also loves reading and the cinema.
For Inês, travel is less about the place than the people she meets and shares her experiences with, and the opportunity to explore cultural similarities and differences. One of her most memorable holidays to date was in Madrid and the Alentejo region of Portugal has a firm place in her heart, quite likely due to the local gastronomy. She was born in Viana do Castelo and studied locally, taking her degree in Communications and Journalism and Post-graduate in Marketing and Strategy at the University of Minho. She joined the PGW team in March 2018 after working in social media management and content creation for a local newspaper.
Born and raised in Paris, France, Jyohanne moved to the small town of Arcos de Valdevez in 2017 to get closer to her origins. She fell in love with Northern Portugal, and even if Islands and beaches are great places for her to relax, she feels much better near the Mountains. When traveling, she likes to immerse herself in the culture and history of the visited places. Always working with customer service, human relations are her priority. She spends a lot of time with her family and friends, but also likes to read, watch lots of movies and travel.
Marcos started his professional career in 2002 in Adventure travel. Born in Viana do Castelo and with a degree in Tourism, he is an outdoor sports and travel enthusiast, and values contact with nature. For him, there is nothing better than going on an adventure and sharing experiences and knowledge. On his free time, he likes to share his passion of nature, sport, and the great outdoors with his son.
Born in Barcelona, Venezuela, Paola initially joined us as an intern back in March 2018, while completing her degree in tourism, and is now a full-time member of the PGW team. An avid traveller, she adores meeting locals, visiting sites of historical and cultural interest and sampling the local gastronomy. Her favourite trips to date are the month she spent living in Casablanca, Morocco and a Mediterranean cruise. When she’s not working or travelling, she loves reading, drawing and painting.
Rute is also from Viana do Castelo and came to PGW in the summer of 2019 after completing her degree in Business Management. Landscapes are an important part of travel for Rute, as well as experiencing different cultures. Her favourite holidays have been in Switzerland and the Portuguese island of Madeira. An active and sociable person, she spends her free time playing sports and participating in the local Scouts groups.
ACCOUNTING, COMUNICATION AND MARKETING
With a background in Biology and project management, Cláudia has been working wonders in the accounts department at PGW since the spring of 2017. Born in Vila Nova de Gaia, she too enjoys seeing different landscapes and experiencing different cultures and ways of living when travelling. Her favourite trips have been to Brazil and Italy. Outside of work, her other passions include music and reading.
Levina just loves travelling. Different cultures and different ways of living are her fascination. India was the most exciting place she has been to so far – yes, because her journey in discovering new places has just begun. But this interest in new things can also be found in her professional life. Her first degree was in radiation therapy. After that, she decided to experience a master’s degree in Management and, now, she has just concluded a degree in Communication and Multimedia.
Our founder, Paulo Lopes, comes from Coimbra and has a background in Systems Engineering, IT and Project Management. His real passion is for the outdoors, such as hiking in the mountains to connect with nature and holidaying in places of outstanding natural beauty. He loves to explore different cultures through food and treasures being surprised by seemingly insignificant encounters with local places and people. He captures these sights and experiences through photography, a long-time love that began with using his father’s camera at the age of 15.
José Augusto is a huge fan of hiking and has followed the Portuguese Camino de Santiago trails more times than he can count and knows them like the back of his hand. He gets a kick out of discovering unknown corners and the local stories, flavours and traditions that bring places alive and make them so authentic and special. A Ponte de Lima native, he trained in agricultural science and local development and has been working in tourism since 2001. He’s been an indispensable part of PGW’s operations since 2013 and loves spending quality time with his two daughters when he’s not working.
